Jazmine Sullivan releases Till film track "Stand Up"
Jazmine Sullivan has shared new song "Stand Up", which features on the soundtrack for the Chinonye Chukwu-directed film Till.
"Stand Up" is Sullivan's first release since appearing on Adam Blackstone's "'Round Midnight" single last month, and will be the end credits song for Till, a new film directed by Chinonye Chukwu about Emmett Till and his mother Mamie Till-Mobley.
The new track is the second contribution that Sullivan has made to films in 2022, after covering "Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child" for the Elvis soundtrack.
Stereogum reports that Sullivan said of "Stand Up", "I’m honoured to be able to contribute to such a powerful film about such a historic and tragic moment in American history. I believe that part of my purpose is to give space for stories that are often ignored and silenced; the Black experience in particular."
Jazmine Sullivan's "Stand Up" track is out now. Till is due to arrive in US theaters on 14 October.
