Jay-Z is set to share new music on the soundtrack of, The Book Of Clarence
As one of the producers of the forthcoming film, The Book of Clarence, Jay-Z returned to Instagram to share a teaser trailer, which revealed that he will be featuring on the soundtrack.
Jay-Z is yet to release any solo music, following his most recent album, 4:44, which was released over five years ago. His latest collaborations include DJ Khaled's "God Did", and Pusha T's "Neck & Wrist", as well as linking up with Nipsey Hussle for the soundtrack of the 2021 film, Judas And The Black Messiah.
In a similar vein, Jay-Z is set to produce The Book of Clarence, which sees LaKeith Stanfield star as a con-man in ancient Jerusalem who sees Jesus and tries to convince people that he is actually the real messiah. He is set to star alongside Omar Sy, David Oyelowo, Alfre Woodard, Teyana Taylor, James McAvoy, Benedict Cumberbatch.
Jay-Z appears to have found his role on the forthcoming film through producing Netflix's The Harder They Fall, which Jaymes Samuel directed. He is also the director of The Book of Clarence. Jay-Z contributed some songs to the soundtrack of the Netflix film, so it only makes sense that he would also be involved in the forthcoming project in a musical capacity.
“I wanted to tell a Bible story about an everyman,” Samuel told Vanity Fair of his effort to put Black characters at the centre of a drama. “I always wanted to explore the Bible stories, but from the angle of the person that sells Jesus his sandals, the woman or man that owns the hair salon.”
"This story is about a young man who finds his faith through love and through wanting to become somebody in the world, which is the story of everybody,” Jay-Z added. “Everyone wants to find love and everyone wants to leave this place having accomplished something, having left their mark that they’ve been here and hopefully affected the world in a positive way.”
The Book of Clarence is set for release on 19 January 2024 in the UK.
