Jamie xx reveals his next album is nearly finished and teases new collaboration with The Avalanches
Jamie xx has given an update on his second solo album, revealing that it's nearly finished and will feature a new collaboration with The Avalanches.
After releasing "Kill Dem" and "LET'S DO IT AGAIN" last year, Jamie xx has discussed his next full-length while speaking to triple j Mornings, revealing that it's nearly done.
Jamie xx said, "I’m in 'finishing mixing' mode. And I can’t take any longer ... Yeah, it’s my next album."
As well as saying many of the songs on his next album "have been years in the making," Jamie xx said, "I realise that I am just slow and that’s okay. I’ve actually really been enjoying the process of it."
He also teased that his second solo album will feature a new collaboration with The Avalanches, saying, "I worked a bit with The Avalanches before the pandemic for their last album and then we sort of carried on."
Jamie xx added, "Just seeing the process of how they work, how they sample. They’ve always been an inspiration for me. Working on the same track with them has kind of informed a different way of making music slightly for me."
As well as releasing his own tracks in 2022, Jamie xx produced his xx bandmate Oliver Sim's debut solo album Hideous Bastard, and also remixed Sim's "GMT" track.
Jamie xx's second album will follow his 2015 debut solo full-length In Colour.
