Irish lockdown sensation Luz presents new single, "i shouldn't be here"
Ivor Novello Rising Star nominee Luz has shared the brand new single, "I shouldn't be here", which is a reflection on her mental health journey.
"i shouldn’t be here" Luz's recent return with "not going anywhere" and "sustain", as well as her previously singles "the author" and "counting houses".
"This track was written during a time where I was experiencing really bad depression. I thought that the people close to me would be better off if I wasn’t in their lives anymore because of everything I put them through," Luz explains of the song's origins.
"For two years, I suffered with these thoughts constantly. As the song progresses, the lyrics and mood starts to shift as I begin to work on my mental health. I started therapy and accepted help from the people who love and care about me. This song is really special to me and I hope that anyone who listens to it and relates to it can also feel hope that it will be okay in the end.”
Luz’s trio of sold out debut headline shows this month have been nothing short of a resounding success. Starting in Cork, before making her way to Dublin, she came to London this week, performing at London’s Omeara.
Today she announces bigger headline dates for next year, including London’s Lafayette on 21 March.
