In homage to Taylor Swift's cancelled Vienna shows, Coldplay and Maggie Rogers perform "Love Story"

Earlier this month, Taylor Swift had to cancel three shows at Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium due to a suspected terror threat.

Yesterday evening, Coldplay performed at the very same stadium, and payed homage to Taylor Swift who was unable to go ahead with her shows.

“This is something we never do, but we have to do it today,” he said. “Of course, we haven’t mentioned that Vienna was in the news all over the world for all the wrong reasons. But what reached us was the beauty and the togetherness and the kindness of all of Taylor Swift’s fans," Chris Martin said ahead of performing "Love Story" with opener Maggie Rogers.

He invited a couple of Swift fans onstage, and said: “If this is not good, please, please don’t put it on YouTube because I don’t want to get in trouble with Taylor. If you can sing with us that would be wonderful. This is a wonderful song.”

Swift recently broke her silence on the events in a statement, writing: "In cases like this one, ‘silence’ is actually showing restraint, and waiting to express yourself at a time when it’s right to. My priority was finishing our European tour safely, and it is with great relief that I can say we did that."

Coldplay's forthcoming album, Moon Music, is set for release on 4 October, and is available to pre-order now.
