IDLES' Joe Talbot explains Notorious B.I.G.'s influence on their "Crawl!" song
In a new video showing the making of their latest album CRAWLER, IDLES' Joe Talbot discussed Notorious B.I.G.'s influence on the album track "Crawl!".
Earlier this week IDLES released a new 11-minute video showing the group making their CRAWLER album with Kenny Beats at Real World Studios, and while speaking about their "Crawl!" song, lead vocalist Joe Talbot discussed how he wanted to use a similar technique to one of The Notorious B.I.G.'s songs.
After revealing that "Crawl!" is about "being fucked and crawling through life but telling everyone you’re fine all the time," Talbot explained, "I wanted to do it like "Gimme The Loot". You know, where he's like two people and what he does - it’s the same key, the same octave, but he’s like low and high timbre. So he just uses his throat and his diaphragm between two people and it’s fucking sick."
IDLES' CRAWLER album arrived in November 2021.
Back in October IDLES released a remix of Florence + the Machine's "Heaven Is Here".
