IDER reflect on Roe v. Wade on new single, "Know How It Hurts"
Alt-pop duo IDER have shared their new single, "Know How It Hurts", which is taken from their forthcoming album, Late To The World.
"Know How It Hurts" follows previous singles, "Late To The World", “Unlearn” and "Girl".
Speaking about the track, they say, “we started writing this song a couple of years ago in reaction to the abortion bans in the USA. It’s about the collective feeling of hurt and disempowerment that was felt during this time and continues to be felt. More personally, it's about looking back at being a young girl and not knowing how to fit in. It’s an anthem for anyone who feels affected by patriarchal ideologies.”
Discussing the video, they say, “The video for Know How It Hurts is loosely inspired by the 90s classic and our favourite film, 'Thelma & Louise'. However, instead of driving off the edge of the Grand Canyon (which was slightly out of our budget), we decided to poetically rewrite the ending in which we "burn the patriarchy" and drive off into the night.”
Late To The World is set for release on 21 February, and is available to pre-order now.
