Humanist announce new album, On The Edge Of A Lost And Lonely World
Humanist – the recording alias of multi-instrumentalist and frequent Mark Lanegan collaborator Rob Marshall – has announced his forthcoming album, On The Edge Of A Lost And Lonely World.
The album announcement is accompanied by the brand new single, "Too Many Rivals", which follows "The Beginning (My God)", released in February. Humanist's second album features guest appearances from a range of vocal talents including Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode), Tim Smith (Harp), Isobel Campbell, Ed Harcourt, James Allan (Glasvegas), Peter Hayes (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club), Carl Hancox Rux and more.
Commenting on the new single, "Too Many Rivals", Rob Marshall says: “Tim's voice has always had a profound effect on me. In ‘Too Many Rivals’ it stirs emotions that are both familiar yet strangely unknown. With this piece, Tim delves really deep, evoking a mix of tragedy, solace, and hope. It's a masterful performance where his melody seamlessly intertwines with my music. It's a collaboration I'm really proud of.”
“My head’s away in clouds of thoughts and imagination,” Rob Marshall muses, “but I’m driven to be as real and authentic as I possibly can musically, trying to push forward and harness all I’ve got; it was never really a choice, but the only thing I ever felt I could do – to swim with the tide, accept your fate, ride the waves. I’m a shy person but on stage my guitar leads me to a place of innate confidence, so I guess that’s where I’m most comfortable”.
