Human Interest unveil the brand new single, "All My Friends"
East Londoners Human Interest have unveiled "All My Friends" as the final single taken from their forthcoming debut studio EP, Empathy Lives In Outer Space.
Following on from the release of "Step On" and "Grounded", Human Interest present the final single taken from Empathy Lives In Outer Space.
Speaking ahead of their single release, vocalist/guitarist Cat Harrison explained: “"All My Friends" was one of the first songs written for Human Interest. I was quite depressed at the time but there was a solidarity because it felt like all of my close friends at that point were also really depressed – it was kind of like a gang where the initiation was taking antidepressants."
He adds that the song came about quite quickly, and it's one of his favourite songs because, "it takes an introspective subject and makes it not so self-indulgent".
Detailing their upcoming EP, which will be accompanied by a launch show at The Waiting Room on 29 November in London, the band revealed: “Empathy Lives in Outer Space feels like we’ve locked into our identity as Human Interest. The name of the EP came from an image of the world’s first untethered freefall in outer space. We found it beautiful how alone that person looked, whilst knowing that there were people there out of the picture who were ready to bring him back into safety."
Adding that the EP was originally called Empathy Baby – as a play on the conversation of nepo babies – they continue: "We became really obsessed with the idea of a toddler being in that same situation, and how striking that would be. Upon leaning into this new imagery, the name Empathy Lives in Outer Space came about and everything clicked. You need space to really appreciate empathy, and comprehend your place in the grand scheme of things."
"All My Friends" is out now. Empathy Lives In Outer Space is set for release on 24 November via Nice Swan Recordings, and is available to pre-order. For more information on their forthcoming headline show, visit dice.fm.
