Holly Macve and Laura-Mary Carter share cover of "Blue Moon" by Elvis
Holly Macve has shared a special cover of Elvis’ "Blue Moon", featuring close friend and creative collaborator Laura-Mary Carter of Blood Red Shoes.
"We're both huge Elvis fans and were raised with him influencing us both visually and sonically,” tell Macve and Carter.
“When we first became friends we bonded over this and ended up combining our vintage Elvis memorabilia when we found ourselves living together. We took an iconic song he sang and attempted to make it our own - it’s such a classic, timeless song and always seems to have a new life to it every time it’s sung by somebody new.”
The release follows news of the Irish-Born, Yorkshire-raised songwriter’s forthcoming EP Time Is Forever, which includes the new single, "Suburban House" featuring vocals from Lana Del Rey. The EP arrives as Macve’s first new project in almost three years, and what she describes as her “most honest storytelling to date”, marking a new beginning for Macve.
Speaking on the EP, Holly says: “Time is Forever is the start of a new era for me. During the making of it I spent a lot of days and nights alone in strange cigarette stained motels, dreaming big and overcoming certain inhibitions. I put a lot of my soul into these tunes and I’m super excited to share them and play them live.”
Holly Macve and Laura-Mary Carter's cover of "Blue Moon" is out now. Time Is Forever is set to be released on 2 February 2024 via Loving Memory Records / Believe.
