Hak Baker brings his documentary to cinemas across the UK

05 March 2025, 13:19 | Written by Tyler Damara Kelly

British-Jamaican singer-songwriter and poet, Hak Baker has brought his documentary Hakeem to five cinemas across the UK.

Hakeem is the debut feature documentary from DEADHORSES (James Topley and Ivo Beckett), who have worked with artists such as Sam Fender and Peter Doherty (The Libertines). Filmed over five years with over 500 hours of home video footage, the documentary gives an insight into Hak Baker’s life growing up in East London’s Isle of Dogs.

The film chronicles his rise to becoming a musician, from winning a guitar in a prison raffle to performing to a sold-out audience at the Royal Albert Hall. Hakeem premiered at Sheffield DocFest last year and will be screening in five cities in the UK as part of the theatrical release by Everyman cinemas from Stratford to Edinburgh. Hak Baker will attend all the screenings in person and take part in Q&As.
