HAIM tease a collaboration with Jai Paul
Speaking to Lauren Laverne on BBC Radio 6, HAIM teased that they “may or may not have been in the studio" with Jai Paul.
Discussing their All Points East performance, and the tenth anniversary of their debut album, Days Are Gone, HAIM took a moment to tell Lauren Laverne about their future plans in music.
“What can you tell us about future plans? Looking ahead, will there be a new album soon?," she asked the group, to which they replied: “We’ve been working with some cool people... We played Jai Paul earlier; we might’ve been in the studio with him” they revealed before adding: “We may or may not have been in the studio with him”.
After further probing, they said that they, “cannot confirm or deny.”
As reported by Pitchfork, HAIM have been fans of Jai Paul for quite some time. Danielle Haim shouted out Paul in The Wall Street Journal in 2014, and the following year, a feature in The Fader reveals that Danielle emailed the British producer to express her admiration.
Earlier this year, Jai Paul made his live debut at Coachella, and quickly followed that up with a London headline show which sold out immediately.
Paul released his Leak 04-13 (Bait Ones) album in 2019, six years after it leaked and caused him to disappear almost entirely. Shortly after his live debut, XL Recordings released Leak 04-13 (Bait Ones) on vinyl for the very first time. The release marked the tenth anniversary of the infamous April 2013 leak of unfinished demos.
HAIM have announced that they will be playing their debut album, Days Are Gone, in full at Shepherd's Bush Empire later this year.
The tenth anniversary reissue of Days Are Gone is due to be released on 29 September. Pre-orders are available now.
