Guinness World Records names The Weeknd as the world's most popular artist
According to Guinness World Records, The Weeknd is statistically the world's most popular artist.
Last month The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, became the first artist in Spotify history to pass 100 million monthly listeners, and earlier this week Guinness World Record gave The Weeknd a new title of the most popular artist in the world.
Passing 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify helped The Weeknd achieve the new title, alongside having the most monthly listeners on the streaming platform (111.4 million on 20 March).
The Weeknd has almost 30 million more monthly listeners than the artist inn second place, which is Miley Cyrus with 82.4 million.
