Grimes shows her support for Lizzo amidst sexual harassment claims
Lizzo is currently facing a sexual harassment lawsuit which was filed against her by three dancers – Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez.
The dancers have alleged that Lizzo created a hostile work environment and pressured staff at afterparties. Despite being well known as an advocate for body positivity and self-love, Lizzo is said to have criticised a dancer’s recent weight gain and later fired the dancer for recording a meeting.
The lawsuit further details an incident at an Amsterdam club earlier this year in which the singer allegedly “began inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas”, the suit says. Lizzo allegedly pressured Davis to touch the nude breasts of one performer, and began goading her on when she refused.
Grimes has come to Lizzo's defence, stating: "I love Lizzo. Not saying I don't believe ppl when bad things happen, but I had dancers mistreated on my watch in ways I didn't find out about until way later".
Lizzo was nice to me before elon when she blew up and I was still indie as fuck. She was nice to me in like 2012 before anyone cared abt either of us. She checked in while I was cancelled a f while I was pregnant when most people abandoned me because they didn't want the…

Grimes went on to add that Lizzo has always been supportive of her in the past. "But loyalty matters to me. Lizzo was kind to me and others for a decade before she was "cool", and she checked in in me when no one cared. I've only ever seen exemplary behavior from her, especially when everyone was hating on me and she was on top of the world. There was no reason for her to check in, besides to be a good person".
Replying to somebody who insinuated that Lizzo was only nice to her because of her level of fame, she said: "She was nice to me in like 2012 before anyone cared abt either of us."
Noting that this was before she was in a relationship with Elon Musk, Grimes added, "She checked in while I was cancelled a f while I was pregnant when most people abandoned me because they didn't want the association, she was kind when was only a liability to her. I respect that hardcore. That's a good person."

"Rihanna has supported chris brown in the aftermath cuz Rihanna seems to care about restorative justice. *assuming* Lizzo is guilty (without a trial - which flies in the face of democracy) - it's funny to me the same people who fight for restorative justice seem against it for someone who has been a figurehead for change and suffered greatly to fight for acceptance," Grimes continued in response to one user referencing Chris Brown's assault against Rihanna.
In her own statement, Lizzo said: "The last few days have been gut-wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing. My work ethic, morals and respectfulness have been questioned."
Grimes seems to vouch for Lizzo's work ethic and morals, as she says, "Just my two cents. I recall when she first blew up being so happy because I'd never known such an admirable person to find fame in the music industry. I struggle to believe she would have so radically changed... tired of a culture that seeks to destroy it's greatest virtues".
Grimes appears to be the only celebrity who has spoken publicly about the lawsuit Lizzo is facing.
