Grimes believes that Taylor Swift "is the only presidential candidate who can unite the country"
In a recent string of posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, Canadian musician Grimes took a moment to show her support for Taylor Swift to become the next President of the United States.
The 2024 United States presidential election is currently scheduled for 5 November. It has been revealed that current President, Joe Biden, will be running for re-election as well has his predecessor Donald Trump.
In the wake of contemplating Trump being back in office, people have been discussing who an ideal candidate would be, to unite the country and make it a better place for younger generations. That unlikely candidate, in Grimes' mind, is Taylor Swift.
Replying to a previous tweet which said that Swift "could course correct society and fix carbon emissions in 10 years", she wrote: "In many ways Taylor Swift is the only presidential candidate who can unite the country," latter adding that “Trump v Swift is totally occurring in a parallel universe rn".
To one user who responded to this, saying: "Actually not a bad idea, Don't know how good it would be for her mental health though", Grimes replied: "It's probably exceptionally unadvisable. It just probably would work."

Last month, on National Voter Registration Day, Swift urged her fans and followers to sign up and make sure they were registered to vote. Vote.org’s communication director Nick Morrow announced that “our site was averaging 13,000 users every 30 minutes," following Swift's call-out. At the time, Andrea Hailey, the CEO of Vote.org, told Insider: "During the day on Tuesday, we saw a 1,226% jump in participation the hour after Taylor Swift posted."
In response to these stats, California governor and Democrat Gavin Newsom believes that Swift’s influence may just have a profound effect on the 2024 US presidential election. “What she was able to accomplish in getting young people activated to consider that they have a voice and they should have a voice in the next election, I think it’s profoundly powerful,” he said.
Earlier this month, The View‘s Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former communications staffer of Trump, said that Swift is the only person who can defeat him: “To be honest, if Donald Trump looks like he’s gonna win, she’s just gonna need to get in the race and defeat him once and for all, because she’s probably the only person who can," she said on The View: Behind the Table podcast. “This ends in one way; we are all Taylor Swift fans.”
Taylor Swift just celebrated the release of her new concert film, TAYLOR SWIFT | THE ERAS TOUR, which is screening in cinemas now.
