Griff covers Troye Sivan's "One Of Your Girls" for Apple Music London Sessions
Griff has performed a cover of Troye Sivan's single, "One Of Your Girls" for her appearance on Apple Music London Sessions.
Apple Music London Sessions gives artists the opportunity to perform a selection of their favourite tracks from their catalogue, as well as a cover version of their choice. For this special performance, Griff performed a rendition of her new single, "Miss Me Too" and "Astronaut", the self-produced and written ballad which features piano from Coldplay’s Chris Martin. She also shared an interpretation of Troye Sivan’s hit "One Of Your Girls", which features on his 2023 album, Something To Give Each Other.
“When we filmed this, "Miss Me Too" wasn't out, so I was still getting used to singing it, and I really wanted to cover "One of Your Girls". I think it's one of the best pop songs I've heard in a really long time, and I think Troye Sivan's just so good. So it was fun to cover it for sure," Griff says.
Speaking of performing "Astronaut" live, and collaborating with Chris Martin, Griff said: I feel like that one's been a bit of a fan favourite, and I'm not really a ballad girl really, so it felt nerve wracking putting that out. But it was amazing having the support of Chris Martin playing on the recorded studio version of it. So it kind of made me feel like it was a good song if it was Chris-Martin-certified".
She also shared some of the advice that he gave to her: "I think he could tell I was quite stressed and quite deflated. I think that's a real feeling when you're so in the mix of making your own music or anything, you kind of lose sight of what's good and what's not. And he was just encouraging me and was like, 'These songs are amazing, and good music always finds its way out in the world.'"
