Goat Girl share final album preview, "words fell out"
London trio Goat Girl have shared "words fell out" as the third and final single from their new album, Below The Waste.
"Words fell out" is deeply personal. Lottie Pendlebury wrote the lyrics while watching drummer Rosy Jones struggle with addiction.
“The song is about the helplessness felt amongst our friends as we attempted to nurture Rosy, a time that felt really hard to find words for. I wrote it to sort through the emotions that are pushed aside in the midst of dealing with a crisis. The opening line ‘I only want the best for you’ is the central theme, not only of the song but also our friendship,” explains Pendlebury.
The forthcoming album, Below The Waste, was co–produced by the band and John Spud Murphy (Lankum, black midi), and follows on from 2021's On All Fours.
Below The Waste is being released on Rough Trade Records on 7 June, and is available to pre-order now.
