Girls Aloud set to reunite for tribute single to late band member Sarah Harding

Girls Aloud originally formed in 2002 on ITV's Pop Stars: The Rivals. In their time together, they had 20 top-ten singles and five BRIT award nominations. They took an initial break in 2009 to pursue other projects before they split for good in 2013.

This will be their first new single in over a decade. They reunited in 2022 for a charity ball in honour of Harding, but did not perform together.

Three years ago, in 2020, Harding announced that she had breast cancer. After releasing a memoir in March the following year, titled Hear Me Out, she passed away in September.

A source told The Sun that Girls Aloud have filmed a music video for the new single which sees them dressed as superheroes.

"This has been one of the best-kept secrets in pop, but it’s actually happening now," the source said. "The girls really came back together as friends to rally around when Sarah died, and it repaired some of the old rifts and put things into perspective. Suddenly the reunion, which had seemed totally impossible for so long, just felt a totally natural thing to do in Sarah’s honour."

The source added that there's plans for a new album, and a reunion tour, in 2024. “It’s going to be huge. They’re all very excited to be back working together, even if there is a bittersweet element to it."
