Forbes lists Taylor Swift as the most powerful woman in Media and Entertainment for 2023
In Forbes' 20th annual list of the most powerful women in the world, Taylor Swift ranks as the most powerful woman in media and entertainment, and the fifth most powerful in the world.
Making her highest ever position to date on the 2023 list, up from 79th place in 2022, Taylor Swift is named the most powerful woman in the entertainment industry, ranking behind political leaders on the overall list. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen sits in the top spot whilst European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde is second, United States Vice President Kamala Harris is third and Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni comes in fourth place.
As a result of The Eras Tour, Swift is reported to have made record-breaking $850 million, and is estimated to have boosted the US economy by over $5 billion. In October, her net worth officially reached $1.1 billion.

Women featured in the 2023 ranking represent six categories: business, technology, finance, media & entertainment, politics & policy, and philanthropy. Beyoncé ranks as the third most influential woman in media and entertainment, whilst Oprah Winfrey takes second place.
ForbesWomen editor Maggie McGrath commented: “Over the past twenty years of the Most Powerful Women list, we’ve documented the shifting ways that power is attained and enacted globally. This year’s list illustrates that perhaps better than any other, with entertainment icons ranking right at the top alongside global politicians and leaders of the world’s most influential businesses.”
