Fatboy Slim at the helm of new scholarship to foster emerging talent at BIMM
Fatboy Slim has been awarded with an Honorary Fellowship from BIMM University in Brighton, and has also launched a brand new scholarship with the institution.
Accepting his Honorary Fellowship, Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim said: “I am humbled and fulfilled to receive this honour from BIMM. Until now both our careers have run in parallel in the same city, both of us working in the music business, both of us contributing to the arts and also charitable causes in Brighton and the city’s unique talents but now our relationship is cemented by this event and honour.”
Speaking about the Fatboy Slim Martlets Scholarship, he continued: “Two of the most vital parts of my life recently have been the world of arts and music and my role as an ambassador for Martlets hospice. Having a scholarship in our joint name allows one student who wouldn’t normally have access to the start in a career that a degree from BIMM will enable to learn from the best in the business in the name of Brighton's unique and wonderful Hospice.”

The Fatboy Slim Martlets Scholarship is a collaboration between Norman Cook – AKA Fatboy Slim – as well as BIMM Brighton and the Brighton hospice charity Martlets, of which Cook is a patron, and will foster emerging talent in the music industry.
Specifically targeting candidates from low-income households or groups under-represented in the creative industries, aiming to dismantle barriers and cultivate a diverse and dynamic community of artists, the scholarship will offer a full three-year tuition fee waiver for one student starting their undergraduate degree at BIMM Music Institute Brighton in the 2024/25 academic year.
Eligibility for the scholarship is extended to UK nationals with a home fee status who are applying for an undergraduate degree at the BIMM Music Institute Brighton. For more information, visit bimm.ac.uk.
