Ethel Cain has shared "Punish" as the first preview of her forthcoming project, Perverts.
Accompanied by a video co-directed with Silken Weinberg, the song is her first official release since 2022’s seminal debut album, Preacher's Daughter.
“I wonder how deep shame can run, and how unforgivable an act could be that I may still justify it in some bent way to make carrying it more bearable," Ethel Cain says of the song's origins. "Would I tell myself it’s not my fault and I couldn’t help myself? Would anyone truly believe that? Would I?”
Perverts will be released on 8 January.
