Elvis Costello & The Imposters announce The Boy Named If (Alive at Memphis Magnetic) album featuring covers of The Byrds, Paul McCartney and more
Elvis Costello & The Imposters have announced The Boy Named If (Alive at Memphis Magnetic), a companion record to January's The Boy Named If album that features covers of songs by The Byrds, Paul McCartney and others.
As well as announcing The Boy Named If (Alive at Memphis Magnetic), Costello and The Imposters have unveiled a remix of "Magnificent Hurt" by Japanese duo chelmico.
chelmico say, "Can’t believe we did a collab with Elvis Costello & The Imposters!! Who knew this could happen in real life!? When we were talking on a Zoom call, Elvis said we can do whatever we want so we just did! Please enjoy our interpretation of the world of "Magnificent Hurt". The beats by ryo takahashi is just a perfection! We're all HAPPY that Elvis is happy with the track!"
The Boy Named If (Alive at Memphis Magnetic) is described as a "companion record" to January's The Boy Named If album, and was recorded live at Memphis' Magnetic Recording in October 2021 and May 2022, after the original TBNI album was recorded remotely during the pandemic.
The forthcoming album will also feature covers of songs by The Byrds, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones and Nick Lowe.
chelmico's remix of "Magnificent Hurt" is out now. Elvis Costello & The Imposters will release The Boy Named If (Alive at Memphis Magnetic) digitally on 25 November.
