Eliza Rose announces forthcoming EP, Business As Usual
Hackney-born vocalist, producer and DJ, Eliza Rose has announced the forthcoming EP, Business As Usual, alongside the release of title track, “Business As Usual (9-5 mix)”, featuring MJ Cole.
Set in her hometown of Hackney, the accompanying video is a universe of retro futurism meets afro futurism, archiving the past by immortalising spaces like the cab office. From Eagle Cars in Stoke Newington, to Hackney Town Hall, The Crown Hackney, Palm Vaults and Atlantis Records in Clapton.
"It was an incredible experience to work with MJ Cole," Rose says of the single. "I've admired his talent in production and DJing for such a long time and it was a dream come true for me to collaborate with him on “Business As Usual”. I was amazed by his versatility and his approach to creating more of a Neo Soul-focused track in the studio and we were both aligned in wanting to create more of a downtempo song with a UKG flip that would bring back the old-school early 90s vibes.
"Working with Eliza is a musical dream packed full of colours, ideas and inspirations," MJ Cole adds. "We took a different approach with “Business as Usual” - the slower version was meant as a working track to create a song at a slower tempo which would gather energy when injected at a UKG tempo - similar to R&B vocals being sped up within remixes. We loved the initial track so much we had to release it and I donned my remixing cap to make the UKG version. Eliza really shines in this track - her soul sister roots rising up in a blaze of glory!"
Business As Usual is set for release on 24 April via Rosebud Recordings/One House.
