Doja Cat shares updated artwork for forthcoming album, Scarlet, following similarities to German band Chaver
Earlier this week, Doja Cat unveiled the title and artwork for her forthcoming album, Scarlet.
Doja Cat's fourth studio album is the long-awaited follow-up to her 2021 album, Planet Her.
Following the release of "Attention", and "Paint The Town Red", Doja Cat reveals that her fourth studio album, Scarlet, will be released next month. She is expected to release “Demons” — the latest single from Scarlet — on Friday, after sharing a series of visual teasers for the song on her social media pages.
Eagle-eyed music fans quickly noticed after Doja Cat shared her album artwork, that it looked almost identical to the release of Chaver's forthcoming album, Of Gloom. Revealed on 29 July, and also due for release on September 22, is almost exactly the same, except for the shape of a blood droplet and the positioning of the spider’s legs.
After deleting the Instagram post with the original artwork on it, Doja Cat has just shared an updated album cover –– created by the same artist –– which is notably different, with two pearlescent spiders, instead of the solo red arachnid that originally graced the cover.
The covers are reportedly from the same artist, Dusty Ray. It appears that they are aware of both covers, with Consequence reporting that they previously shared the image of Doja Cat’s cover on X (formerly Twitter).
Announcing Of Gloom, back in July, Chaver praised the cover that was “masterfully” created by Ray who has “been with us since our first album”, adding that it “serves as a captivating contrast to the album’s intense music, setting the stage for a trip to a place of pain”. Doja Cat never offered a statement on the meaning or artist behind the cover.
Doja Cat's fourth studio album, Scarlet, arrives on 22 September.
