Doja Cat calls out fanbase: "get off your phone and get a job"
Yesterday (23 July), during a conversation on Threads, Doja Cat called out her fanbase for being "creepy" and not respecting her personal boundaries.
In response to find calling themselves “Kittenz” online, Doja took to her Threads account to give her opinion on the matter. “My fans don’t name themselves shit. if you call yourself a ‘kitten’ or fucking ‘kittenz,’ that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house,” she wrote.
A user named “thekittenzweb” replied to Doja Cat, asking what they should use for a new name. Doja wrote back, “just delete the account and rethink everything it’s never too late.” In response to another fan who had replied to the discourse, using Doja Cat's full legal name, she wrote: “you making my government name ur sn is creepy as fuck".

Spotting that she was active on the app, another fan sent Doja Cat over the edge, telling her that they wanted to hear her say that she loves her fans.
“I don’t though cuz I don’t even know yall," she responded. It was at this moment where another fan hit back at the artist: “and we don't know you. but we've supported you through thick and thin. mind you you’d be NOTHING without us”.
Doja shot back at them, saying, “nobody forced you idk why you’re taking to me like you’re my mother bitch you sound like a crazy person.” Whilst it might seem like a harsh thing to say, Doja Cat has previously spoken about this next chapter of her career moving away from doing what has previously pleased others.

In a recent interview with Variety, Doja Cat revealed that the way she presents herself at the moment is an expression of her current feelings.
"I have thrown fits my whole career because I have been making music that didn’t allow me to have a mental release. I have been making music that is palatable, marketable, and sellable, that has allowed me to be where I am.
Now I am making music that allows me to express the way I feel about the world around me... My philosophy around my work has become more apparent over recent times because I have been very inspired by hatred and outrage culture. It is something I will be reflecting on in my upcoming projects."
Many fans have shared their disappointment in Doja Cat's comments, and have deactivated their fan accounts. Some even pointed out that she had dressed as a cat and conducted one interview in only miaows at this year’s Met Gala. “This coming from Doja Cat??? The same woman who was meowing at the Met Gala..?” one commenter wrote.
