Detroit's Jingle Ball teased Taylor Swift as special guest and then brought out an impersonator

Ahead of the Detroit's edition of iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball show, they teased a line up with Taylor Swift as special guest. However, fans were left disappointed when an impersonator showed up on stage.

On Tuesday evening (5 December), Jingle Ball took place at Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, and it featured performances by the likes of Usher, Jelly Roll, Flo Rida, Big Time Rush, and more.

During the show, radio host Mojo In The Morning announced a “special guest”, teasing fans to believe that Swift's appearance on stage was imminent. “She’s arguably having the best year of anyone ever. Is anybody familiar with a song called "Cruel Summer?" Does anybody know some song called "Karma?" In her Jingle Ball Era…make some noise, for…” The impersonator, Trailer Swift, then came on stage and in footage of the event, you can hear the confusion of fans as their eruption of applause quickly dissipates.

The stunt was to promote Channel 955’s giveaway for tickets to see Taylor Swift in Indianapolis next year, when The Eras Tour returns for its next leg.

One fan reacted to the event on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Went to the jingle ball last night and they hyped up a special guest like it was Taylor swift and it was a look a like named “trailer swift” WHEN I TELL YOU I MEARLY HAD A HEART ATTACK? I was pissed".

Another user made light out of the near-impossible chances of Swift turning up for a surprise show in Detroit: "does that say TRAILOR swift?? i’m not even joking… why would Taylor Swift be in detroit… for jingle ball… when her tour tickets can’t be attained," with another person echoing their sentiment: "y’all thought she would really turn up to a detorit jingle ball?? idk that’s a you problem". Perhaps one of the funniest comments of the whole situation: "We got the eras tour at home : Trailor Swift".
