Depeche Mode announce first album in five years Memento Mori
As well as announcing a world tour, Depeche Mode have announced their first album in five years, Memento Mori, which will arrive in spring next year.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2020 inductees Depeche Mode shared news of their 15th album Memento Mori earlier today (4 October) during a special event in Berlin, and also revealed they'll be embarking on a world tour in support of the album next year, which includes their headline performances at Primavera Sound Barcelona and Madrid 2023.
Memento Mori will follow Depeche Mode's 2017 album Spirit, and will mark their first record since their keyboardist Andy Fletcher died in May. Martin Gore said, "We started work on this project early in the pandemic, and its themes were directly inspired by that time. After Fletch’s passing, we decided to continue as we’re sure this is what he would have wanted, and that has really given the project an extra level of meaning."
Dave Gahan added, "Fletch would have loved this album. We’re really looking forward to sharing it with you soon, and we can’t wait to present it to you live at the shows next year."
Depeche Mode's Momento Mori album will arrive in spring 2023. Tickets for their world tour will go on sale this Friday (7 October) via depechemode.com.
