Deerhoof share double B-side release with all proceeds donated to The Trevor Project
Deerhoof have returned with the release of their new double B-side, "Overrated Species Anyhow" and "Sparrow Sparrow".
All proceeds will benefit The Trevor Project, the leading non-profit suicide prevention organisation for LGBTQ+ young people. With its message of love and solidarity for those communities now being targeted with dehumanisation, this double single is Deerhoof’s first release since their 2023 album, Miracle-Level.
“This ‘Double B-Side’ is meant as a life beam to anyone who has been feeling dehumanised by mainstream society lately. Anyone who didn't find themselves in the rankings of which races, nationalities, genders, or belief systems have equal value,” the band says. “Anyone who sees life on earth as something more than some capitalist death match. Anyone who got thrown under the bus in the past year's race to the bottom. Anyone who isn’t one of 2781 billionaires who’ve taken control of the world. Anyone refusing to lick the fascist boot.”
The Deerhoof double single arrives ahead of the band’s headlining US spring tour, beginning with a show at Minneapolis’ The Walker Arts Center on 1 May and ending at LA’s The Lodge Room on 10 May. The band have also announced headlining UK and European shows with stops in Bristol, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds, Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and more, including two shows at London's Bush Hall.
