Come Play With Me have announced the seventh I Know A Place conference taking place in Leeds next week, and it'll feature appearances from members of bands such as Stealing Sheep, Big Joanie, The Lovely Eggs and others.
I Know A Place is a conference put on by the award-winning non-profit music development organisation Come Play With Me, and aims to "champion and celebrate women and people of marginalised genders within the music industry."
The event, taking place on 26 and 27 January at Leeds' Headrow House, Howard Assembly Rooms and Oporto, will include a variety of free-entry panels, workshops, keynotes and in-depth conversations, as well as the I Know A Place afterparty with Independent Venue Week, which will feature performances from Mollie Coddled, Boshe and Shauna.
Speakers at I Know A Place 2023 include Big Joanie member and Vice-Chair of the Musicians’ Union Equalities Committee Chardine Taylor-Stone, Rebecca Hawley of Stealing Sheep, The Lovely Eggs' Holly Ross, Sarah Jamieson (DIY), Sarah Wall (PPL), Thea Hudson-Davies (The Leaf Label), Louise Henry (Independent Venue Community), Eva Davies (Come Play With Me), Grace Goodwin (Future Yard, musician) and Elise Brown (Revere Arts).
Come Play With Me label manager Eva Davies says, "We’re now in our seventh year of I Know A Place, it’s growing year on year and we’re super proud of how it is shaping up for 2023. We‘re super excited to be bringing industry professionals to Leeds from all over the UK to talk about their journeys in the industry. Being able to bring together women and people of marginalised genders from across the music industry is incredibly important to the whole CPWM team, and we’re privileged to be able to dedicate this day to celebrate people‘s achievements."
I Know A Place 2023 takes place on 26 and 27 January at Leeds' Headrow House, Howard Assembly Rooms and Oporto, and is a free entry event. Visit eventbrite.co.uk for more information and to reserve a spot.
