Chartreuse present the new single, "Whippet"
Chartreuse have released their new single “Whippet”, as the latest track taken from their upcoming debut album Morning Ritual.
“Whippet”, which sees Hattie Wilson on lead vocals, leans further into the band’s electronic influences than much of Morning Ritual. It was inspired by a conversation Hattie had had with a friend at the pub about life plans and settling down. "She was asking me what my plans were, and I said I didn't know," she explains. "A lot of our friends have serious careers, and we're in a band. I felt bitter about having to have the conversation, so the line 'left like a whippet' is me wanting to leave and stop talking about it."
Chartreuse announced their debut album last month with two brand new songs, the title track, "Morning Ritual" and "All Seeing All The Time".
The album was recorded over the course of 2022, with occasional breaks for European tours with Palace and with Eden, and time to adjust to the changing nature of the Chartreuse studio set-up. They began recording in a shed in the garden at Mike and Rory's house - previously occupied by their dad's home office, though he realised he had been evicted when they got rid of his desk.
Chartreuse's debut album, Morning Ritual, is set for release on 10 November via Communion Music, and is available to pre-order now.
