Charli XCX, The Last Dinner Party, CMAT and more nominated for Mercury Prize 2024
The shortlist for this year's Mercury Prize has been announced, with Charli XCX, The Last Dinner Party, CMAT and English Teacher among those tipped for the winner's spot.
The Mercury Prize recognises and celebrates the Albums of the Year, establishing a reputation for highlighting the work of both exciting emerging talent and more established bands and artists. The 12 Albums of the Year are chosen by an independent judging panel including the likes of Danielle Perry, Jamie Cullum, Jamz Supernova, and Sian Eleri.
Arctic Monkeys, Young Fathers, RAYE, and Jockstrap were among those shortlisted last year, with Ezra Collective taking the award home. Ahead of their win, the band said: "Nominations and awards feel incredible, but nothing competes with playing in front of people that love your music. I feel like those moments are the icing for us, and these moments are just a really, really proud thing." Their full acceptance speech is available to read.
