Chappell Roan, mk.gee, and Ezra Collective on the BBC Sound of 2025 list
BBC Sound of 2025 list – chosen by a panel of over 140 industry experts and artists – has been revealed, tipping ten new artists for success next year.
The nominated artists for 2025 are Chappell Roan, Confidence Man, KNEECAP, Barry Can't Swim, Doechii, mk.gee, English Teacher, Ezra Collective, Myles Smith, Good Neighbours, and Pozer. They were chosen by a panel including representatives from Spotify, the Glastonbury Festival and the BBC; as well as musicians such as Sir Elton John, Dua Lipa, Jorja Smith, The Blessed Madonna and Sam Smith.
This year, The Last Dinner Party won, beating the likes of Olivia Dean, CMAT, and Tyla. The 2023 winners FLO, were up against Fred again.., Asake, Dylan and Cat Burns. Previous winners include Stormzy, Adele, Lady Gaga, Dizzee Rascal, The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish and Lewis Capaldi.
Due to a change in the eligibility criteria, which BBC says "recognises the difficulties of achieving crossover success in the streaming era", the qualifier for BBC Sound of 2025 was that "artists could not have had more than two UK top 10 albums or two UK top 10 singles by 30 September 2024."
The winner will be revealed around the first week of January.
Radio 1 will host a special concert with performances from artists on the longlist on Monday 2 December. The application for tickets is now open on the BBC Shows and Tours website.
