Celeste returns with new single, "There Will Come A Day"
Celeste has returned with the brand new single, "There Will Come A Day", which features on the album, The Color Purple (Music From And Inspired By).
The soundtrack to The Color Purple has been executive produced by Quincy Jones, Larry Jackson and Scott Sanders. The album includes timeless classics from the The Color Purple musical alongside 16 new songs inspired by the film’s narrative.
Celeste created "There Will Come A Day" with Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist and producer DetoNate, whose credits include Labrinth, Sia, Diplo, Channel Tres, Diana Ross and more. The track was mixed by Beach Noise, renowned for their work with Kendrick Lamar.
This release follows her 2021 debut album, Not Your Muse, as well as the compilation EP, Lately, which was released earlier this year.
Fantasia, Taraji B. Colman Domingo, Danielle Brooks, H.E.R, and Hallie Bailey star in the forthcoming film which follows a teenager named Celie being raised in rural Georgia in the early 1900s. Through letters written by Celie to God, the narrative reveals her struggle with an abusive father, teenage pregnancy, and abusive marriage.
The soundtrack also features the likes of Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Keyshia Cole, Coco Jones, Jorja Smith, a collaboration from USHER and H.E.R, as well as remixes from Missy Elliot featuring Megan Thee Stallion, and a Timbaland remix featuring Black Thought.
