Butthole Surfers drummer Teresa Taylor dies aged 60
Teresa Taylor, one of the drummers for Texas rock band Butthole Surfers, has died of lung disease. In 2021 she had revealed her diagnosis.
Taylor joined Butthole Surfers in 1983, and played on the albums Psychic… Powerless… Another Man’s Sac, Rembrandt Pussyhorse, Locust Abortion Technician, and Hairway To Steven.. After a period of extensive touring, she had to leave the band six years later, after experiencing light-induced seizures that led to her diagnoses with a brain aneurysm. In 1993, she underwent brain surgery and was able to perform again, joining the band Rubble.
In between bands, Taylor made a brief appearance in Richard Linklater’s breakthrough film, Slacker, which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 1991.
Posting a tribute to their late drummer on their social media pages, Butthole Surfers wrote: "Teresa Taylor passed away peacefully this weekend after a long battle with lung disease. She will live in our hearts forever. RIP, dear friend."

“Teresa passed away clean and sober, peacefully in her sleep, this weekend. She was so brave, even in the face of her horrible disease,” her partner wrote in a Facebook post. “We were all fortunate to have her beautiful, strong spirit in our lives. She will be forever missed. We will have a memorial service sometime in the future.”
