BTS' Jin says he'll be "back soon" in video message for fans amid military service
Jin of BTS has shared a video message for fans about his mandatory military service, and assured fans that he'll be "back soon".
A new video message from Jin of BTS has been shared amid his mandatory military service. The video was recorded before his military enlistment during breaks while filming the Korean variety show Running Man, and sees him reassure fans that he'll be "back soon".
Jin said, "Hello everyone, this is Jin of BTS. I won’t be a civilian by the time the video is out. But I am here in front of the camera because I wanted to leave you something, even if it is just leaving a message."
"Whenever I am available I wish to leave these videos and records once every few months to share with you as much as possible, even if it’s just checking in briefly," he added. "I may not be by your side at this very moment, but I’ll go looking for you soon, so if you just wait a little bit. I’ll be back soon. That’s all for today. Next time when I have the chance, I’ll be back with another video."
It was revealed last month that Jin was the first BTS member to begin mandatory military service in South Korea. The 30-year-old will be assigned to a frontline unit for 18 months after completing a five-week training course at a bootcamp.
Back in October it was revealed that all members will move forward with completing their mandatory military service in South Korea, and are planning to reunite as a group in 2025
South Korean men aged 18-30 have to spend a year-and-a-half in the military to contribute to the country’s readiness for a potential conflict with North Korea.
Jin's latest single "The Astronaut", which was co-written with Coldplay, landed in October last year.
