Broadcast announce their final two albums, Spell Blanket and Distant Call
Broadcast have announced their final two albums – Spell Blanket and Distant Call – which will be released later this year on Warp Records.
Spell Blanket comprises songs and sketches drawn from late vocalist Trish Keenan's archive of 4-track tapes and MiniDiscs. The recordings lay the groundwork for what would have been Broadcast’s fifth album, offering a window into the band's creative process following Tender Buttons. The songs all span a period from 2006-2009.
Distant Call, in contrast to Spell Blanket, is a collection of early demos that were worked into finished productions appearing on Haha Sound, Tender Buttons and The Future Crayon.
Distant Call will be the final release from the band, and includes two songs discovered by James after Trish’s passing, including “Please Call To Book” which was her response to Broadcast’s 2006 ‘Let’s Write A Song’ project, where fans were asked to submit lyrics on a postcard which would then be worked into a finished song.
Spell Blanket - Collected Demos 2006-2009 to be released 3 May, whilst Distant Call - Collected Demos 2000-2006 will be released on 28 September. For more information, visit broadcast.warp.net.
