Britney Spears' mum responds to singer's now-deleted audio message about conservatorship
Britney Spears' mum Lynne has appeared to respond to the singer's now-deleted 22-minute audio message that she uploaded to YouTube yesterday (28 August), which saw her discuss her 13-year conservatorship.
Yesterday (28 August) Spears shared a 22-minute audio message to her YouTube channel where she discussed her conservatorship that was terminated after 13 years in November last year, and asked how her family got "away with it".
According to Deadline, Spears started the clip, which has since been set to private, by saying she gets nothing out of sharing her experience, and later said, "I have offers to do interviews with Oprah and so many people for lots and lots of money, but it’s insane. I don't want any of it. For me, it’s beyond a sit-down proper interview."
As well as discussing her dad Jamie, who was her conservator for 13 years, saying he "loved to control everything I did", Spears also spoke about her mum Lynne, saying she "actually helped him [Jamie] follow through and made it [the conservatorship] all happen."
Billboard reports that Spears said later in the recording, "I'm honestly more angry at my mom because I heard when reporters would call her at the time, and ask questions of what was going on, she would go innocently hide in the house and she wouldn’t speak up. There was always like, 'I don’t know what to say. I just don’t want to say the wrong thing. We’re praying for her.' I feel like she could’ve gotten me a lawyer in literally two seconds … Every time I made contact with a firm, my phone was tapped and they would take my phone away from me."
Last night (28 August), Lynne Spears appeared to respond to her daughter's audio message via Instagram, writing, "Britney, your whole life I have tried my best to support your dreams and wishes! And also, I have tried my best to help you out of hardships! I have never and will never turn my back on you! Your rejections to the countless times I have flown out and calls make me feel hopeless! I have tried everything. I love you so much, but this talk is for you and me only, eye to eye, in private."
