Bright Light Bright Light announces his fifth studio album, Enjoy Youth
Bright Light Bright Light has returned with the brand new single, "You Want My…" as the first taster of his upcoming fifth studio album, Enjoy Youth.
"You Want My..." was produced by co-writer Ian Masterson (Bananarama, Dannii Minogue), and the title is a tongue-in-cheek reference to George Michael’s "I Want Your Sex".
Speaking about the song, Bright Light Bright Light explains: “"You Want My..." is about celebrating – rather than lamenting – the end of a relationship. It’s the point where a person who has been played around with says ENOUGH and takes control, draws a line and refuses to keep giving in to a selfish lover: a state of empowerment that I wish I had found more than a few times in my 20s in London while enjoying youth!”
Enjoy Youth features collaborations with GRAMMY-nominated Mykal Kilgore, Ultra Naté, Sam Harper, and and Beth Hirsch (who features on Air’s classic album, Moon Safari). It's an album that acknowledges our dystopian times and offers up an escapist alternative. “Things are pretty shit at the moment and there are times where I really feel like magic has been taken out of the world,” he says. “I wanted to remind myself that life is pretty special and just focus on the joy we do have.”
The forthcoming album is timed to release in time for Pride Month, and also comes ahead of Bright Light Bright Light’s first ever appearance at Mighty Hoopla Festival on 1 June.
The forthcoming album, Enjoy Youth, is released on 17 May, and is available to pre-save now.
