boygenius joins Billie Eilish onstage at surprise Camden show
During her underplay performance at Camden's Electric Ballroom, Billie Eilish treated fans to one of the most surprising intimate shows that she's performed in over five years.
On Saturday evening, following her headline performance at Leeds Festival, Eilish announced the show at Camden's Electric Ballroom –– which has a capacity of 1,500 –– to coincide with her appearance at the climate-focused event, OVERHEATED, which takes place today at the Roller Boogie Palace in West London.
Her second ever London headline show, at Heaven in 2018, holds a similar capacity, which made it all the more intimate, considering she made history as the youngest person to ever headline Reading & Leeds Festival, over the weekend.
During the intimate set, which included hits such as "buryafriend", "idontwannabeyouanymore", “What Was I Made For?" –– her contribution to the Barbie movie soundtrack –– and "oceanneyes", Eilish introduced her first guest to the stage. Back in December, following the release of her 2021 album, Happier Than Ever, Eilish invited Labrinth on stage to perform the track, "I've Never Felt So Alone", which was a deep cut from the Euphoria soundtrack. Three months later, he dropped the track, which featured guest vocals from Eilish. The following month, they gave the song its live debut at Coachella.

Following the track, "wishyouweregay", the biggest surprise of the evening came, when Eilish invited boygenius on stage to provide backing harmonies on "When The Party's Over", which features on her 2019 debut album, When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go.
She reportedly asked fans to lower their phones, before announcing the trio, so that she could see their reactions. Following the performance, she hugged Lucy Dacus, Julien Baker, and Phoebe Bridgers, and said: “I’m in love with all three of them. Truly."
No strangers to each other's music, Bridgers shared a cover of “When The Party’s Over” last year, and even joined Eilish onstage at the Kia Forum in LA, where they sang “Motion Sickness.”

Elsewhere during the show, Eilish reportedly said she felt like she was "babysitting" as she struggled to get security to listen to her when asking them to hand out water to those in the crowd who seemed as though they were struggling.
“Can we get some water for these folks? Like where is security? Am I security now?” She said to the crowd. “I haven’t played a small venue in literally six years. I’ve forgotten how to do this… I’m having an anxiety attack right now,” she continued. “This felt like a good idea… Once. You guys look like you’re gonna die, take a step back.”
“Fucking jeez Louise. No one is answering me,” she said, once again asking for water for the crowd and insisting everyone take a step back before she continued the set. “It’s been a minute since we’ve done this…Who needs an inhaler?” she added. “I feel like I’m babysitting. Do you feel ok for me to keep going?”
The Eilish co-founded SUPPORT + FEED, which combats the climate crisis and food insecurity by working toward a global shift to an equitable plant-based food system, takes place this afternoon.
