Bloc Party return with "High Life"
The band – who are currently on tour with Paramore – are back with their first release of 2023.
"High Life" is Bloc Party's first new release since 2022’s critically acclaimed album Alpha Games which was their first album in 6 years.
“I wanted "High Life" to sound like falling in love again, the start of a new love intertwining, cemented by nights of abandon and stolen moments of intimacy.” explains frontman Kele Okereke. “I really wanted it to feel like a celebration."
On her BBC podcast Everything is Emo, Hayley Williams hailed Bloc Party as Paramore’s “number one reference”, adding, “I’m really really thankful for this band, I’m so thankful that they’re back, they’re playing shows they’re putting out great songs, and it just makes me feel even more excited to get back out into the world.”
The two bands will continue to tour the US together in May and June, with Bloc Party playing a handful of intimate headline shows in between, before returning to the UK for Standon Calling, Leopallooza and Tramlines Festival.
"High Life" is out now via Infectious / BMG.
