Bleachers pack the Forum Kentish Town to the rafters for the first of two sold out shows
New Jersey’s finest New Yorker Jack Antonoff and his band kick off a UK run of sold out dates with coordinated chaos.
Standing under a giant glowing sign that shouts, “Recording - Studio In Use,” Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff looks confidently comfortable as they open the first of two sold out shows at London’s Forum Kentish Town.
Playing in support of their new self-titled fourth record, recent singles like “Modern Girl” were welcomed with huge cheers, while album track “Hey Joe” encouraged some audience improvisation. “I fear, whatever happens tonight will become tradition on the tour,” Antonoff joked in response.
While some in the crowd may have been hoping for an A-List appearance given Antonoff’s recent production credits, he did bring out his dad (a regular at his shows) for “How Dare You Want More.”
The venue itself was uncomfortably packed, with access to the upstairs balcony closed off long before the band took stage. Leading into fan-favourite “Rollercoaster,” Antonoff called for everyone to get up on each other’s shoulders. “Make this shit look like Glastonbury,” he demanded.
