Black Belt Eagle Scout releases new single "Nobody"
Black Belt Eagle Scout has unveiled her first single of 2023, "Nobody", which is a third taster of her forthcoming album The Land, The Water, The Sky.
"Nobody" is the first outing from Black Belt Eagle Scout, real name Katherine Paul, in 2023, and lands with a video filmed by Evan Benally Atwood. The new cut will appear on The Land, The Water, The Sky with last year's "My Blood Runs Through This Land" and "Don’t Give Up".
"When I was growing up, I didn’t have very many Native role models to look to on TV or the radio," Paul explains. "It was within my own community that I found inspiring role models through our elders and our community leaders. With Native representation in music and television slowly growing, I often ask myself where I stand within representation in music and how I want to be seen. This song is about the relationship I have with my own representation in music."
The Land, The Water, The Sky will follow Paul's 2019 second album At The Party with My Brown Friends. She says of the new record, "I created The Land, The Water, The Sky to record and reflect upon my journey back to my homelands and the challenges and the happiness it brought."
"Nobody" is out now. Black Belt Eagle Scout's The Land, The Water, The Sky album will be released on 10 February via Saddle Creek, and is available to pre-order now.
