Björk to narrate Merlin Sheldrake's nature documentary, Fungi: The Web Of Life
Björk has announced that she will be narrating the forthcoming nature documentary, Fungi: The Web Of Life, which is directed by Gisela Kaufmann and Joseph Nizeti.
The documentary is about "the ways that fungi have shaped life on Earth for over a billion years", with the film showcasing captivating time-lapse photography capturing the nature of these organisms. Composer Piers Burbrook de Vere leads film's score, whilst Merlin Sheldrake – who authors the book Entangled Life, is set to narrate.
Björk's tenth studio album, Fossora, which was released in 2022 was rooted in grief and thematically toyed with exploring the nature of fungi. She explains the album being about her return to Earth, describing the fungus metaphor as "something that lives underground, but not tree roots. A tree root album would be quite severe and stoic, but mushrooms are psychedelic and they pop up everywhere."
