
Billie Eilish debuts Barbie ballad "What Was I Made For?" during Lollapalooza headline set
Billie Eilish headlined the first day of the Chicago-based festival, last night (3 August).
Following a set which spanned her hits, such as "you should see me in a crown", "bellyache", "ocean eyes," and "bad guy", Eilish took to the Lollapalooza 2023 stage to perform “What Was I Made For?” for the first time.
The track was specifically written for the Mark Ronson-produced soundtrack to Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie. When she announced the track, she wrote: “We made this song for Barbie and it means the absolute worrrrllld to me. This movie is gonna change your lives and hopefully, this song will too. Get ready to sob.”

In a first for the festival, Billie Eilish's set was partially solar-powered by intelligent, zero-emission battery systems. The sustainability project is in partnership with environmental non-profit Reverb and was made possible via a temporary onsite “solar farm” supplied and managed by Overdrive Energy Solutions.
