Beyoncé reportedly hand made Emmy Awards for Homecoming team after they lost all six nominations
Homecoming is the concert film about Beyoncé and her performance at Coachella Festival in 2018. The entire film is written, executive produced and directed by Beyoncé herself.
When the nominations for the 2019 Emmy Awards were released, fans were convinced that Beyoncé would take home a win, considering she was up for six awards – Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special; Outstanding Variety Special (pre-recorded); Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Non-Fiction or Reality Programming; Outstanding Music Direction; Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special; and Outstanding writing for a variety special.
Her snub at the Emmy Awards didn't go unnoticed. After witnessing Beyoncé lose out to James Corden's Carpool Karaoke, one person wrote: “James Corden is a perfectly lovely human being. I enjoy Carpool Karaoke. It’s a good bit. HOMECOMING, on the other hand, is seminal. It is timeless. It is exhaustive and original. This really, really bothers me.”
Whilst another person called it "disrespectful", that she took home zero of the six awards she was nominated for: “You mean to tell me Beyonce won no Emmys tonight for Homecoming?! Y’all stay disrespecting her in her face! Smh!”

Production designer Hannah Beachler has now revealed that following the Emmys loss, Beyoncé personally stayed up and made plastic Emmy Awards with handwritten names and notes for the people who were involved in the making of Homecoming.
"Working with Beyoncé over the years, I have said this each and every time. It's not just on stage. She is tentacles of light, and those tentacles wrap you in power, love and confidence," she wrote on a Twitter thread. "When I started on Black is King & went to the L.A. offices. There was a bunch of little plastic Emmy Awards w/ hand written names on them. They told me b/c they didn't win for Homecoming, B stayed up after & made everyone their own special one w/ a note".
Beyoncé is currently halfway through the Renaissance tour, in support of her 2022 album. She has recently made headlines for posting a tribute to 28-year-old professional dancer O’Shae Sibley after he was fatally stabbed while vogueing to her songs from the Renaissance album; as well as sending Tori Kelly flowers following her recent hospitalisation.
Beyoncé and former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland are collaborating to create 31 permanent housing units for Harris County’s unhoused population, to coincide with the Houston leg of the Renaissance tour, next month.
