Benjamin Clementine shares new cut "Delighted"
Benjamin Clementine has released new cut "Delighted" as the fourth preview of his upcoming third album And I Have Been.
After announcing And I Have Been with "Genesis" a month ago, Clementine has shared another preview of the record titled "Delighted", which is accompanied by a Curtis Essel-directed video and will appear on his new album with "Copening" and "Weakened".
He says of the song, "Every now and then, we lean to try, then we learn with trials, then we earn our respect along the watchtower. Arrogance becomes the culprit of complacency, so as we turn away from what we’ve painstakingly morphed, we burn all the years of passion, patience and practice. Luckily, we are humans, so we can start again, hence we are delighted."
And I Have Been will follow Clementine's 2017 second album I Tell a Fly, and a second part is expected in 2023, which, according to a press release, could possibly be his final album.
"And I Have Been was conceived during Covid," he explains. "Like everyone, I was also confronted with a lot of lessons, complications and epiphanies to do with sharing my path with someone special. Part One is just setting the scene, it’s the tip of the iceberg which sets the scene for Part Two, which goes deeper."
"Delighted" is out now. Benjamin Clementine's And I Have Been album will be released on 28 October via his own label Preserve Artists.
