BEKA shares the complete soundtrack to Apple TV+ original series, Trying

Having already released "Bags Packed" and "Forever" – with the latter debuting in the official season four trailer for the show – BEKA has been enlisted to write the official soundtrack with original songs to tie in with the storyline of each episode's theme and narrative, following Maisie Peters and Bear’s Den who wrote and performed the soundtracks for series 2 and series 3 respectively.

“Writing this soundtrack has been the best thing I’ve done in my career so far,” BEKA says. “An external triangulation and opportunity to run with your imagination.”

“If It’s Not With You” was an ode to old Hollywood love from the start. The imagery of a ballroom in the script for this particular episode gave us this immediate waltz feel to write to. We wrestled with versions of the song that were too dark but then came an amazing pivot in a third attempt where sonically, we leaned completely into this hazy, love-drunk cinematic Hollywood love we’d been writing," BEKA explains.

"From the first question in the chorus “what if we slip out of time” we knew the song would be a duet. We wanted a voice that could capture old love and just knew Samm Henshaw would be perfect for it. We reached out, Samm said yes and when he came into the studio it felt like we were long-lost Nigerian cousins. His vocal was the power and tenderness we’d been trying to write in the lyric. I believed every word.”
