beabadoobee and Laufey team up on "A Night To Remember"
British indie icon beabadoobee and Icelandic-Chinese composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Laufey have shared their brand new collaborative single, "A Night To Remember".
Of the collaboration Beabadoobee says: “I’ve been writing with a lot of different rhythms recently, also with strings and nods to more classical sounds. Laufey is a great fit for this sound and we had started hanging out in London so we got in the studio together to work on music and try ideas with my producer Jacob Bugden. We also hung in NY on my tour and started becoming closer friends".
"Bea has been one of my favourite musicians for a while so getting to write and sing with her was a dream come true. We both agreed that we wanted to write something a bit sexier for this project and "A Night To Remember" was born," Laufey adds. "There are so many songs about being rejected as a woman and this song is about being on the other side of the coin - having one great night then walking away. Reclaiming the narrative! We recorded it in London with Jacob, Bea’s producer and added some finishing touches in LA with my producer Spencer Stewart.
The release of "A Night To Remember" follows a string of single releases this year for beabadoobee, including hit single "Glue Song" and "the way things go", along with her live album Live In London. She also supported Taylor Swift on the US leg of The Eras Tour. Next month Beabadoobee will appear at Tyler The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival, her final live appearance before the end of the year.
Following the release of her 2021 Typical of Me EP, Laufey was named Best New Artist in Jazz and Blues at the Icelandic Music Awards. Laufey’s 2022 debut full-length, Everything I Know About Love reached number one on Billboard’s Alternative New Artist Album chart, and she was the most streamed jazz artist on Spotify that year. Her new album, Bewitched, recently broke the record as the biggest debut for a jazz album on Spotify in history.
