Bad Waitress return with first single from new album In The Hollow

The band have released a couple of standalone singles since 2021's No Taste, but this will be their first full-length release since then. Accordingly, they said in a statement that the album emerged from a period of collective and personal isolation. "The songs sit inside the messier part: figuring out what still belongs to you, what doesn't, and what you're finally ready to leave behind." Lyrically, it grapples with relationships, identity, and sexuality, while its imagery draws on the Northwest Territories and Pacific Northwest, where members grew up before relocating to Toronto.

Bad Waitress are part of the city's vibrant DIY scene, and have shared stages with punk legends such as Fucked Up, L7, and Rise Against. The new album was produced by the group themselves with engineer Josh Korody at Toronto's Wychwood Sound. It builds on the twitchy, in-your-face art-punk territory they've previously explored.
