Baba Ali deliver new cut "Hold My Head"
Baba Ali have released new single "Hold My Head" as the second outing from their upcoming album Laugh Like A Bomb.
"Hold My Head" lands with a video by Dan Tombs, and follows the duo's January lead single "Burn Me Out".
Baba Doherty says of the single: "I just kept singing it until I could really feel the depth of the words, and my eyes started to water. We stopped the session there and I knew something had finally stuck. I realised that it was this intense emotional place in myself that I needed to tap into as we continued writing the album.
"The moments of feeling worn out on tour ended up being a real inspiration for the song. The opening line "sew me up", in fact, came from a time when my trousers kept coming apart at the seams when performing. I would have to keep repairing them in the hotel after each show night after night after night. These repetitive actions of stitching, sewing, tearing.... really seeped into me."
Laugh Like A Bomb will follow their 2021 debut Memory Device, and was produced and recorded in just three weeks by the duo themselves before being mixed by Ross Orton (Working Men’s Club, Arctic Monkeys, Yard Act).
"Hold My Head" is out now. Baba Ali's Laugh Like A Bomb album will be released via Memphis Industries on 28 April, and is available to pre-order now. They'll play The Lexington in London on 9 June. Tickets are on sale now via babaalimusic.com.
